2026 USASA Southern California Series — Boarder/Skier Cross 1 at Bear Mountain
About this event
The 2026 USASA Southern California Series Boarder/Skier Cross 1 was a sanctioned amateur snowboard-cross and ski-cross racing contest held on Monday, February 16, 2026 (Presidents’ Day) at Bear Mountain in Big Bear Lake, California. Unlike the series’ judged freestyle stops, boarder/skier cross is a head-to-head racing format: riders drop in together and race down a purpose-built cross course of banked berms, rollers, jumps, and rhythm sections, with the fastest advancing through quarterfinal and semifinal heats to a final. Racers earned USASA points toward the Southern California Series Cross standings and the 2026 USASA national rankings that feed qualification for the USASA National Championships. The event offered 60 age-graded divisions across snowboard and freeski — from Rascal (ages 5-6) through Legend (50 & over), plus Open Class and the inclusive Kekoa and Para (adaptive) categories — making it a genuine grassroots racing entry point for Southern California riders of every age and ability. Results were officially scored and published on Liveheats and the USASA regional site: 23 divisions were contested by 66 competitors across snowboard cross and ski cross. Bear Mountain, run by Big Bear Mountain Resort, is the premier terrain and freestyle mountain for the Los Angeles region, roughly 100 miles from central Los Angeles, and its parks host the USASA Southern California Series all winter — making this one of the closest sanctioned snowboard/freeski race contests to LA. This record documents a completed event; registration and entry are closed and results are final.
